Overview: This is a rebranding project I came up with for the magazine GameInformer. I've been a fan of this company since I was a kid, and as times changed, now a majority of companies have websites. I agree that the magazines of this company are designed to a great extent, their website needed a redesign. I also figured that their logo needs a change to fit in today. I've also gone ahead to create web ads to expand the brand further.
Software: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Animate & Sketch
Redefined Logo
I came up with a couple of logo sketches. My goal was to create something current subscribers will recognize and draw the attention to new potential consumers.
I choose one of the design and transitioned to Adobe Illustrator to create the logo. After creating the logo I wanted to have a secondary logo for the brand identity. I incorporated the initials of the brand "GI".
Magazine Cover Design
My next step was to focus on the magazine cover design. Since I am a fan of their current designs, I wanted to keep the same concept footage of an upcoming game. The difference between what GameInformer has and what I came up with is the cover page's text. Traditionally, GameInformer doesn't have a lot of text on their covers. I wanted to add that traditional aesthetic to grab new consumers' attention with bold lettering and flashy colors of the magazine issues' topics. Below are some sketches I came up with before moving on to the initial design.
After deciding what design to move forward with, I used Adobe Photoshop to select an item from a picture, edit a photo for the background by changing the orientation, glancing at the color, and adding a gaussian blur for texture.
After creating the main focus in Photoshop, I transitioned to Adobe InDesign to add the headlines.

For the YouTube channel, I've redesigned the icon and created a banner to attract subscribers. Below is what the banner looks like before it is cropped and the YouTube Badge.
Animation Ads
To promote the brand on the web and mobile devices, I've created animation ads in Adobe Animate. Adobe Animate allowed me to create buttons for the web and automatically made the codes for CSS and javascript. Below are the storyboards I came up with before starting the elements in Adobe Illustrator.
Desktop Web Redesign
Mobile Web Redesign
For the web redesign I've used a digital design tool kit called Sketch. Sketch made it easier to create design concepts with vector graphics. My goal is for the website to look modern and create an atmosphere for gamers to read articles without looking at a bright screen.
